The DLM-4 takes one sensor per zone – up to four in all – and uses each reading to protect the crop: when the temperature passes the maximum set point you program, the controller automatically dims the fixtures, or shuts them down if it has to, and logs the event so you can find the cause afterwards. Heat Stress When the Lights Run Flat Out
On a hot day a grow room under full power can climb past its comfortable range quickly, and plants answer with heat stress, excessive stretch and poor nutrient uptake. A controller can only react to heat it can measure. With a probe in each zone, the DLM-4 trims light output the moment the temperature crosses your set point and records when it happened, so you can fix the ventilation or cooling behind it.
How to Use
- Connect the probe to the DLM-4 sensor input for the zone it will monitor
- Mount it at canopy height, shaded from direct light and away from fans, heaters and air intakes, so it reads the air the plants are actually in
- Fit one probe per zone – each zone dims against its own reading
- Program the maximum temperature and the dimming action on the controller
- Check the DLM-4 event log after hot spells to see when and why it dimmed
