Switch HID lighting safely without frying your timer

The Eco Technics Power Star Contactor is purpose-built to handle the timed switching of horticultural lighting and other appliances. HID lamps draw a heavy power surge at switch-on that a standard plug-in timer simply cannot cope with, and repeated surges will burn its contacts out. The contactor takes that load instead, letting your timer (not supplied) handle the scheduling while the relay does the heavy switching, safely and reliably, day after day.

Why not just wire lights straight to a timer?

Plug lights directly into a mechanical or digital timer and the ignition surge from an HID ballast quickly pits and welds the timer's internal contacts, causing failures and fire risk. A contactor absorbs that switching load on a heavy-duty relay, so your timer only ever handles a low-current signal.

How to Use

• Plug your lights and appliances into the contactor's outputs
• Connect a timer (not supplied) to the contactor to control on/off scheduling, such as the heavy duty timer
• Check total wattage falls within the contactor's rating before powering up
