Fan and duct noise in a room that needs to stay quiet?

Most extraction noise is not the fan motor but air turbulence hitting the inside of the ducting, which gets louder around bends, reducers and joints. A silencer placed close to the fan, before the first bend, tackles the noise at source instead of letting it travel down the run and radiate out.

How to Use

• Fit the silencer inline, ideally directly after the fan and before any bends, sealing joints with duct clips or foil tape to stop air leaks.
• Support the silencer's weight rather than letting it hang from the ducting, especially on longer runs.
• Where noise is still an issue, add a second silencer in series further along the run.
