GreenPlanet Pro-Cal is a calcium, magnesium and iron supplement that prevents and corrects the deficiencies that show up most often in coco coir, and on reverse osmosis or rainwater, where calcium and magnesium sit too low for healthy development. It is designed to run alongside any nutrient programme, mineral or organic, from early growth right through to the week before harvest.

Interveinal yellowing, weak stems and blossom-end problems

Coco coir holds on to calcium and magnesium and releases them slowly, and reverse osmosis water carries almost none to begin with. The result is a plant that looks well fed but shows yellowing between the leaf veins, soft growth and poor flower set. Adding calcium and magnesium as a dedicated supplement fixes the shortfall without forcing the rest of the feed up.

How to Use

With any nutrient programme: 1.25 mL per litre, until one week before harvest
Coco growers: GreenPlanet recommend Pro-Cal on all coco substrates at this rate
Re-buffering a coco substrate: a one-third strength nutrient solution with Pro-Cal at 2 mL per litre
pH: hold the nutrient solution between 5.8 and 6.3
Solution temperature: keep between 18 and 22°C

Note — GreenPlanet publish both rates as millilitres per litre of water, and specifically recommend Pro-Cal on coco substrates at 1.25 mL/L. Hold the nutrient solution at pH 5.8 – 6.3 and 18 – 22°C. Their EC targets are calculated on RO water, so tap water raises the stated EC. Check pH and EC after mixing.
