Every pre-filter stage of a Mega Grow 1000 in one pack
The GrowMax Mega Grow Replacement Filter Pack (GMWPACKMEGA) replaces all three pre-filter cartridges on the GrowMax Mega Grow 1000 reverse osmosis system in one go: a 5 micron sediment filter and two green carbon block filters, all 10 inch. The sediment filter traps sand, rust and grit; the two carbon blocks take out chlorine and organic contaminants before the water reaches the RO membranes, where chlorine would otherwise attack the membrane and shorten its life.

Clogged Pre-Filters Shorten Membrane Life
Pre-filters do not fail loudly. A loaded sediment filter slowly chokes the flow, and a spent carbon block lets chlorine through to the membranes, where it does permanent damage. The first signs are slower production and creeping EC in the water you collect — by then the membranes have been exposed for weeks. Replacing the full set on schedule protects the most expensive part of the system and keeps feed water clean for the nutrient tank.
How to Use
- Shut off the supply and release the pressure before opening any housing
- Unscrew the three housings, remove the old cartridges and rinse the bowls
- Fit the sediment filter in the first housing and a carbon block in each of the next two; check the O-rings are seated before retightening
- Run the first water to waste for a few minutes before filling a reservoir
- Replace the set after about 8,000 litres of produced water, and the carbon at least every 6 months

How is this different from the GrowMax 10 Inch Replacement Filter Pack?
The 10 Inch pack holds one sediment filter and one carbon block. The Mega Grow 1000 has three pre-filter housings — sediment and two carbon stages — so this pack includes the second carbon block and refits the whole unit at once.
Will it fit my Power Grow 500 or Eco Grow?
Those units take one sediment and one carbon cartridge: use the GrowMax 10 Inch Replacement Filter Pack for them.
How often should I change the filters?
After about 8,000 litres of produced water, and the carbon blocks at least every 6 months. Change sooner if production drops or the EC of the RO water starts to rise.
