Why do plants in solid pots get rootbound?

In a standard plastic pot, roots that hit the wall keep growing round and round into a dense circling mat that takes up water and nutrients poorly. The breathable fabric exposes root tips to air as they reach the edge, which air-prunes that growth and pushes the plant to throw out fresh feeder roots instead. The result is a fibrous, well-branched root ball that feeds more efficiently and drives stronger top growth.

How to Use
