Description
Steady, Thermostat-Controlled Warmth for Grow Tents Through Cold Nights
The Spider Farmer Grow Tent Heater is a compact 540W PTC ceramic heater with a built-in digital thermostat, ten heat levels and separate day and night temperatures. Its temperature and light sensor reads the tent and knows when the lights go off, and the 50-160 cm vent hose lets the heater sit outside the tent. It is rated for tents up to 150 x 150 cm (5 x 5 ft).
Key Benefits
- Accurate temperature hold - PTC heating plates with PWM control across 10 heat levels, and a thermostat you can set from 0 to 60°C
- Automatic day and night settings - the light sensor switches between your daytime and lights-off temperatures without a separate controller
- Warm air where you want it - the hose stretches from 50 to 160 cm to direct heat into the tent while keeping hot air off the plants
- Layered safety - an NTC physical overheat cut-out, internal and ambient overheat protection, and a 5VA flame-retardant housing
- Quiet running - about 45 dB on the lowest settings, rising to about 55 dB on full power
- Smart control if you want it - plugs into a Spider Farmer GGS controller or GGS power strip by RJ12 cable for app scheduling and monitoring
Cold Nights and Temperature Swings in the Grow Tent
In a cold loft, garage or outbuilding, tent temperature can fall fast once the lights go off. The drop slows root development and nutrient uptake, holds back vegetative growth and lets humidity climb into condensation and mould. Rather than running flat out and overshooting, this heater adjusts its output to hold your set point and can switch to a lower night target automatically.
How to Use
- Position it outside the tent and feed the vent hose through a duct port, or stand it inside the tent in very cold conditions. Never point the hose straight at plants.
- Connect the sensor with the RJ12 cable and hang it at canopy height, where you want the temperature measured.
- Set day and night targets on the control panel; the heater starts at level 3 and a day and night setting of 26°C until you change them.
- Choose a heat level to suit the space - Spider Farmer suggests levels 2-3 for a 60 x 60 cm tent in mild weather, rising to levels 9-10 for a 120-150 cm tent below freezing.
- Clean the intake filter - unscrew the cap underneath, rinse the sponge in warm water and let it dry before refitting.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I control the heater from my phone?
Only through Spider Farmer's GGS system. Plug the heater into a GGS controller or a GGS AC5 or AC10 power strip with the RJ12 cable and it appears in the Spider Farmer app; on its own it runs from its own control panel and sensor.
What size grow tent will it heat?
Spider Farmer rates it for grow spaces up to 150 x 150 cm (5 x 5 ft). In a 120 or 150 cm tent below freezing, the maker advises putting the heater inside the tent or using two units.
Should the heater go inside or outside the tent?
Either. Outside, the 50-160 cm hose carries warm air in through a duct port and the heater takes up no growing space; inside the tent gives the most heat in very cold conditions. Keep the hose from blowing directly onto plants.
How loud is it?
About 45 dB on heat levels 1-3, 50 dB on levels 4-6 and 55 dB on levels 7-10, according to Spider Farmer.
