Description
Builds a Bigger, More Absorbent Root System
The Source Origin Root Stimulator is a concentrated root stimulator made from 100% natural plant-extracted ingredients. It encourages extensive, fibrous root growth and conditions the substrate into a well-cultured root zone that can host beneficial bacteria. More root mass means fertiliser is taken up more efficiently, which shows above ground as stronger foliage growth and better flower and fruit formation. Origin contains no artificial plant growth regulators, is very concentrated at a label rate of 0.4 ml per litre, and suits soil, coco and hydro on hard or soft water. It is part of The Source range, made in the UK and developed alongside AutoPot Watering Systems.
Key Benefits
- Extensive, fibrous roots — increases root strength and root formation from the first weeks of growth.
- Better fertiliser uptake — a larger root mass takes up feed more effectively.
- Conditions the root zone — builds a cultured rhizosphere where beneficial bacteria can establish.
- Highly concentrated — just 0.4 ml per litre at the label rate.
- Natural plant extracts — no artificial PGRs.
- Soil, coco and hydro — on hard or soft water, with any watering method.
Weak Roots and Transplant Shock
Thin, sparse roots limit everything above them. Plants wilt quickly in warm conditions, nutrient uptake lags behind demand and transplant shock drags on after potting up. Origin goes into the feed from the start of growth so plants put down a dense, branching root system early, settle quickly after transplanting and keep drawing water and nutrients as they size up. Because it also conditions the growing medium, it suits coco and hydro systems where the root zone has no soil life of its own.
How to Use
- Mixing order: add The Source Gro or Flo A and B first and set your EC, then add the stimulators. The maker expects EC to climb by about 0.4 to 0.7 once they go in, which is normal.
- Label rate: 0.4 ml per litre at every feed through growth and early flowering.
- AutoPot systems (soil, coco or hydro): 0.4 ml per litre through growth and the first four weeks of flowering, then stop.
- Hand watering, drip, NFT and flood and drain: 0.5 ml per litre for the first two weeks of growth, then 1 ml per litre from week three and through the first four weeks of flowering.
- Greenhouse crops such as tomatoes and chillies: 0.2 ml per litre at every feed for the whole season.
- pH: set the reservoir to about pH 5.8 for soil and compost and about pH 5.6 for coco or rockwool, as The Source recommends.
- Shake well before use; a syringe makes small doses easy to measure.

Frequently Asked Questions
When should I stop using Origin?
On The Source's charts for short-season flowering plants it runs through growth and the first four weeks of flowering, then stops. Greenhouse crops take a lower 0.2 ml per litre for the whole season.
Does Origin contain hormones?
The maker states it is derived from natural plant extracts and contains no artificial plant growth regulators.
Can I use it with another brand's base nutrient?
It will work in any system, but The Source designed Origin to run with Gro and Flo and recommends the complete range rather than other additives alongside it.
