Description

Quieten Your Extraction Without Choking the Airflow

The AC Infinity Inline Duct Fan Silencer fits into your ventilation run and soaks up the rush and drone that an inline extractor fan sends down the ducting. Inside a galvanised steel body, a chamber lined with egg-crate neoprene foam breaks up sound waves while the air passes straight through, cutting fan noise by up to 50%. Twin flanges take standard flexible or rigid ducting, so it suits AC Infinity Cloudline fans and any other inline fan of the same diameter.

Key Benefits

  • Up to 50% less fan noise — wave-pattern neoprene foam absorbs sound before it reaches the room
  • Straight-through chamber — the foam lines the walls rather than blocking the bore, so the fan keeps its airflow
  • Reversible flanges — fit it either way round, on the intake or the exhaust side of the fan
  • Galvanised steel shell — resists corrosion in humid grow rooms
  • Fits anywhere in the run — after the fan, after a carbon filter or at the duct outlet
  • Light to hang — 1.04 kg (100mm), 1.77 kg (150mm) or 2.72 kg (200mm)

Why Is My Inline Fan So Loud?

Most extraction noise is not the motor itself but turbulent air and vibration carried along the ducting and amplified by thin tent walls. The usual fix, turning the fan down, costs you airflow, and an under-ventilated space quickly builds heat and humidity, the conditions mould and mildew thrive in. A silencer deals with the sound instead, so the fan can run at the speed the room needs.

How to Use

  • Exhaust side first: fit it straight after the fan outlet, where most noise travels.
  • Connect: push ducting over each flange, secure it with a clamp and seal the joints with foil tape.
  • Support it: hang it from the tent frame so its weight does not sit on the fan or ducting.
  • Keep runs short and straight: every bend adds turbulence, noise and resistance.
  • Intake noise: a second silencer on the intake side quietens that too.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will a silencer reduce my fan's airflow?

Very little. The foam lines the walls of a chamber the same bore as the ducting, so the air passes straight through; as with any extra length of duct, keep the run short and straight to protect airflow.

Does it only work with AC Infinity fans?

No. It is a passive sound absorber with 100mm (4 in), 150mm (6 in) or 200mm (8 in) flanges, so it works with any inline fan and flexible or rigid ducting of the same diameter.

Where is the best place to fit it?

Directly after the fan on the exhaust side, which is where most of the noise travels. AC Infinity also says it can go anywhere else in the run, between the fan and the ducting or on the intake.

Will it stop the hum I hear through the tent frame?

It is made for the air-rush noise inside the ducting. Hum carried through the frame is vibration, which is better tackled with an anti-vibration coupler between the fan and the ducting, plus soft hangers.
