Description
A quiet, high-output air pump for DWC tanks and reservoirs
In its SES-60 size, the BOYU SES Low Noise Air Pump puts out 60 litres of air per minute (3,600 L/h) from a single 13mm barbed outlet while drawing just 35W. The SES-30 delivers half that, 30 litres of air per minute (1,800 L/h) at 25W, through the same 13mm outlet in a smaller body. The motor is housed in an aluminium casing for heat dissipation and long life, and an outlet buffer chamber keeps it quiet - useful when the grow room is close to living space. The polymer composite rubber air chamber needs no oil. It suits deep water culture, RDWC, large nutrient reservoirs and ponds.
Key Benefits
- 30 or 60 L/min output - enough to run a manifold and a good number of air stones from one pump.
- Up to 0.03 MPa working pressure keeps air flowing to stones at the bottom of deep tanks. The SES-30 runs at 0.025 MPa.
- Low noise through the outlet buffer chamber.
- Aluminium motor casing handles 24-hour running without overheating.
- Oil-free design - nothing to lubricate and nothing to contaminate the solution.
- Built for outdoor pond duty - BOYU class the SES as an outdoor air pump, so it suits damp grow rooms and outbuildings.
Why Aeration Matters
Warm nutrient solution holds less oxygen, and roots starved of it quickly go brown and soft. That is the start of root rot, poor nutrient uptake and slow growth. Keeping a strong, steady stream of fine bubbles through the reservoir raises dissolved oxygen and keeps the solution moving, so roots stay white and active.
How to Use
- Site the pump above the water level, or fit a non-return valve, to stop water siphoning back.
- Push 13mm hose onto the outlet and run it to an air manifold, then airline to each air stone.
- Run the pump continuously and keep it on a dry, level, ventilated surface.

Frequently Asked Questions
SES-30 or SES-60 - which do I need?
The SES-60 moves twice the air of the SES-30 for 10W more. The SES-30 suits one large reservoir or a small multi-pot system running a handful of stones; the SES-60 is the one for big RDWC runs, deep tanks or a long manifold. Both use the same 13mm outlet, so stepping up later needs no new hose.
Can it run 24 hours a day?
Yes. The motor sits in an aluminium casing that sheds heat, and the pump is oil-free, so it is designed for continuous aeration. Give it a ventilated spot rather than a closed cupboard.
How do I run several air stones from it?
Push 13mm hose onto the barb and run it to an air manifold - use a reducer if the manifold inlet is smaller - then take airline from each manifold outlet to its own stone. Close any unused outlets so the air goes where you need it.
Where should the pump sit?
Above the water level, on a dry, level surface. If it has to sit lower than the reservoir, fit a non-return valve in the line so water cannot siphon back into the pump when the power is off.
