The Danish Irrigation Grow Tray is the classic base tray for drip irrigation and run-to-waste growing. Pots, rockwool cubes or slabs sit on a floor of raised panels while a grid of moulded channels carries the run-off to a drain sump at one end, so roots never stand in the waste solution. From there it can be piped back to a reservoir to recirculate, or straight to a drain or waste tank for true run-to-waste. This 100 x 110cm (1000 x 1100mm) white tray suits a 1.2m grow tent or a bench in a grow room, and it is equally at home for hand-watered pots where you want the run-off caught and led away cleanly.

Why Does Run-Off Need Somewhere to Go?
In a drip-fed or hand-watered room, every feed sends some solution out of the bottom of the pot. Left to pool around the base it keeps the root zone waterlogged, raises humidity at canopy level and gives algae, fungus gnats and root disease a place to start. In a run-to-waste system it also has to leave the room so that the EC and pH in the root zone stay steady from feed to feed. A Danish tray solves both: the plants sit high and dry on the raised floor and all of the run-off is collected at one point.
How to Use
- Level it: set the tray on a firm table or stand with a slight fall towards the sump end so the channels drain fully.
- Fit an outlet: drill the sump to suit your drain fitting and run a hose to a reservoir (recirculating) or to a drain or waste tank (run-to-waste).
- Arrange the plants: stand pots, rockwool blocks or slabs on the raised panels and run dripper lines to each one.
- Keep it clean: flush the channels and wipe the tray between crops to stop salts and algae building up.
