Description

Automatic watering for 15 litre pots, with no pump and no power

The GoGro 15L Pot System is a gravity-fed self-watering system made in Britain by HydroGarden under its PLANT!T range. Each 15 litre round pot sits in a tray fitted with the patented GoGro valve, which lets feed in from a raised reservoir only when the tray needs it; capillary action then keeps the medium evenly moist. Systems run from a single pot to 48 pots: one, two or four pots with a 45L round reservoir or 60L flexible tank, six or eight pots with a 100L reservoir or flexible tank, 12 pots on 250L, and 24 or 48 pots on a 250L reservoir or 500L flexible tank. HydroGarden designed it for greenhouses and gardens as well as indoor grow rooms with the right lighting and ventilation, and it works in soil or hydroponically in clay pebbles.

What's Included

  • GoGro 15L modules – one per pot: round pot, PLANT!T valve tray with GoGro valve and copper root control disc
  • Reservoir – 45L round reservoir with lid, 100L or 250L reservoir, or 60L, 100L, 250L or 500L flexible tank, as chosen
  • Supply line and connection fittings

Key Benefits

  • No electricity – gravity and the valve do the work; no pump to fail, no timer to set.
  • Leave it for weeks – every tray keeps topping up for as long as the reservoir holds feed, so size the tank to how long you need it to run.
  • Floods to about 3cm, drains to about 1cm – a small buffer of feed stays under the pot.
  • Uses your own pots – the tray takes most standard 15L round pots.
  • Scales from 1 to 48 pots – the larger systems feed several rows from one tank, so a whole greenhouse bench waters itself.
  • Round tray with extra-deep grooves – turn the pot to break roots away from the tray, while the grooves keep feed circulating underneath.

Why Hand Watering Lets Container Plants Down

Uneven watering causes trouble: dry spells check growth and lead to split fruit and blossom end rot, while overwatering starves roots of oxygen. Across a run of 24 or 48 plants, watering by can or hose also means some pots get more than others. GoGro gives every pot at least two small feeds a day from the same tank, so nutrient uptake stays even through vegetative growth, flowering and fruiting – ideal for tomatoes, peppers, chillies and cucumbers.

How to Use

  • Stand the reservoir above the supply line – HydroGarden advise at least 50cm above the pots – and gravity does the rest.
  • Lay the root control disc in the base under 1–1.5L of clay pebbles per module, then add your medium.
  • Transplant established plants, not seeds – the right time is when they start getting thirsty.
  • Allow 5–10L of reservoir per module; a medium plant takes 1.5–2L a day indoors.
  • Give each pot a quarter turn every fortnight to keep roots out of the tray.
  • Flush the supply lines through with clean water from time to time to keep the valves clear.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which size of system do I need?

Choose the number of pots first, then the tank. HydroGarden recommend 5–10L of reservoir per module and expect a medium plant to drink 1.5–2L a day indoors. On those figures the 8-pot system on 100L runs about 6–8 days between fills, the 12-pot on 250L about 10–14 days, the 48-pot on 500L about 5–7 days and the 48-pot on 250L about 2.5–3.5 days.

Rigid reservoir or flexible tank?

Both feed the system the same way. The flexible tank is collapsible, so it packs away between seasons, while the rigid reservoir is a solid tank. On the 24- and 48-pot systems the flexible tank also holds twice as much – 500L against 250L – which halves how often you refill.

Does the reservoir need to be raised?

Yes. GoGro is gravity fed, so the tank must stand above the supply line for feed to reach the trays – HydroGarden advise at least 50cm above the level of the pots. Nothing else is needed – no pump, timer or power supply.

Can I use it outdoors or in soil?

Yes. HydroGarden designed GoGro for greenhouses and gardens as well as indoor rooms with suitable lighting and ventilation, and it works with soil or hydroponically with clay pebbles in the pot.

Will roots block the valve?

Each module has a copper-impregnated root control disc under the clay pebbles to hold roots back. Fast-growing crops can still push roots into the tray, so give each pot a quarter turn every fortnight, or more often if needed, to break them away.
