Description
Grow in Coco or Soil With Fully Automatic Flood and Drain
The Green Man FD Flood and Drain System from Green Air Products UK is built for growing in a medium rather than in water. Each FD pot has a substrate tray in its base, so it can be filled with coco, soil or your own mix and still be fed automatically. The Green Man Brain Controller floods every pot from one central reservoir on its timer; the medium soaks up the solution by capillary action and holds it ready for the roots, then the pots drain back so the solution is mixed and sent out again on the next cycle. Feeding little and often like this keeps roots insulated in the medium and avoids the dry-back swings and patchy nutrient uptake of hand-watering, while each drain draws fresh air back into the root zone. Because every pot shares one tank, EC, pH and temperature are checked in one place. Choose 2 to 24 pots, with a rigid tank or a collapsible FlexiTank.
What's Included
- Green Man FD pots (2 to 24 by option), each with a substrate tray
- Green Man Brain Controller with timer
- Reservoir: rigid tank or FlexiTank (by option), fitted with a Sicce Syncra Silent 1,350 L/h pump and Green Man connection plug
- Iceline pipe and fittings to connect the pots
Key Benefits
- Automatic feeding in a medium: coco, soil or a substrate mix in every pot
- Capillary feeding: the medium holds solution between floods for steady moisture
- One shared reservoir: drained solution is mixed and reused, with one place to check EC, pH and temperature
- Fresh air at the roots as each pot drains
- Rigid tank or FlexiTank to suit the space
- Expandable with Green Man Flood & Drain pot packages
How to Use
- Set the pots out on a level floor and seat a substrate tray in the base of each
- Add a layer of clay pebbles, then fill with coco, soil or your chosen mix and plant
- Connect each pot to the Brain Controller with the Iceline pipe
- Site the reservoir, connect its fill and drain lines and plug the pump lead into the Brain
- Programme the flood times on the Brain's timer to suit the medium and the size of the plants
- Check EC, pH and temperature at the reservoir and refresh the solution regularly

Frequently Asked Questions
Rigid tank or FlexiTank?
Both run the same system with the same Sicce pump and Green Man plug. The FlexiTank is collapsible, lighter to move and folds flat when not in use; the rigid tank stands on its own.
Can I add pots later?
Yes. Green Man Flood & Drain Kit pot packages add 2, 3 or 6 pots to an FD system; keep the reservoir big enough for the extra pots.
What is the difference between the FD and the Combi system?
The FD system grows in coco, soil or a substrate mix flooded from below. The Combi system grows in clay pebbles, with a reservoir in each pot aerated by an airstone and a drip ring feeding from above.
Which medium should I use?
Any free-draining coco, soil or substrate mix. A layer of clay pebbles in the base helps drainage, and the substrate tray keeps the medium off the floor of the pot.
