Cuttings and seedlings kept at room temperature alone often root unevenly or not at all, especially in a cool room or through winter, because the compost is simply too cold to trigger root development. Bottom heat holds the rooting zone at a steadier temperature than the surrounding air - usually the difference between a tray of healthy new roots and one that does nothing for weeks.

How to Use

• Place the mat on a flat, dry surface and stand your propagator tray directly on top before plugging in.
• Leave it running continuously while cuttings and seedlings are rooting.
• Where possible pair it with a thermostat to hold the compost around 20-25°C rather than letting it climb.
• Use with one of our Propagators (including a humidity dome) for the best results, then switch off and move it to the next batch once rooted.
