Description

Bring a weak mains supply up to the pressure an RO membrane needs

The GrowMax Water Booster Pump Kit (GMWROPUMPKIT) raises the inlet pressure of a GrowMax Power Grow 500 or Maxquarium 000 PPM reverse osmosis system where the mains supply is too weak to drive the membrane. GrowMax recommend it wherever incoming water pressure is below 40 PSI (3 kg/cm²); the kit lifts it to 60+ PSI (4 kg/cm²), so the unit produces pure water faster and sends less to drain. The 24V DC diaphragm pump runs from a mains power adaptor and fits in the feed line ahead of the RO unit, with a shut-off switch that stops the pump once the storage tank is full.

What's Included

  • GrowMax 24V DC diaphragm booster pump (GMWROPUMP)
  • Mains power adaptor — 220–240V AC in, 24V DC out
  • Shut-off pressure switch, wired to the pump
  • Connection tubing for the feed line

Key Benefits

  • Boosts to 60+ PSI from supplies below 40 PSI
  • More pure water, less waste — the membrane works at the pressure it was designed for
  • Matched to the Power Grow 500 and Maxquarium 000 PPM — GrowMax's own compatibility
  • Automatic shut-off with the GrowMax float valve kit — the pressure switch cuts the pump when the tank is full
  • Simple fitting — push-fit tubing and a plug-in 24V adaptor

Low Mains Pressure and a Slow, Wasteful RO Unit

A reverse osmosis membrane needs pressure to push water through it. Below about 40 PSI the output slows to a trickle, a larger share of every litre goes to drain, and the membrane rejects dissolved salts less well, so the EC of the water filling your reservoir creeps up. Raising the feed pressure to 60 PSI or more puts the system back in its working range and makes clean, low-EC water for the nutrient tank quicker to collect.

How to Use

  • Check your mains pressure first — the kit is for supplies under 40 PSI (3 kg/cm²)
  • Fit the pump in the feed line between the water supply and the RO unit, following GrowMax's connection diagram for the Power Grow 500 or Maxquarium 000 PPM; seal the pump's elbow connectors with PTFE tape
  • Fit the shut-off switch only with the GrowMax Float Valve Kit installed in the tank: the float valve stops production when the tank is full and the switch then cuts the pump's power
  • Never leave the pump running against a closed system — it is a DC pump and can burn out if its power is not cut
  • Plug the adaptor into a mains socket in a dry place, away from the water lines

Frequently Asked Questions

Will it fit my Mega Grow 1000?

No. GrowMax specify the High Flow Booster Pump Kit for the Mega Grow 1000. This kit is for the Power Grow 500 and the Maxquarium 000 PPM.

How do I know if I need a booster pump?

Measure the pressure at the tap that feeds your RO unit. If it is under 40 PSI (3 kg/cm²), or the unit makes water slowly and sends a lot to drain, the kit will bring it up to 60 PSI or more.

Does the pump switch itself off?

Only with the GrowMax Float Valve Kit fitted in your storage tank. The float valve stops water production when the tank is full, the pressure switch senses it and cuts the pump's power. Without it, switch the pump off yourself — a DC pump left running against a closed system can burn out.
