Ducting for extractor fans and filters
Ducting connects your carbon filter and fan to the outside, and the material matters more than growers expect — thin aluminium ducting is cheap and light but transmits fan noise straight through the walls; insulated (acoustic) ducting deadens that noise at the cost of a slightly bigger diameter.
Our Ultra Silent Ducting and PhonicTrap Ducting (available in 3m, 6m and 10m lengths) are both insulated, acoustic options that quieten a run noticeably compared to bare aluminium. We stock runs to fit every duct size from 100mm (4") up to 315mm (12"), matching every fan and filter we sell.
Sizing and running ducting
Match the diameter to your fan and filter exactly — a reducer at either end costs you airflow. Keep runs short and straight where you can; every tight bend costs roughly 5% of your airflow, so a long, twisting run needs a bigger fan to compensate.
