How to choose
- Measure the floor and the ceiling. Leave room to open the door and work, and headroom above a 2m tent to put the frame up.
- Height goes fast. Fan, filter and light take 70cm or more off the top, and the pot and tray another 30cm.
- Check the corners. Plastic is fine under an LED; metal matters once a heavy light, filter and fan hang from the roof.
- Plan where the air goes. Extraction needs a window, a vent or a bigger room to blow into.

Quick answers
What size grow tent is best for a beginner?
If the floor allows, 1.2 × 1.2 × 2m: it takes a standard 480W-class LED and a 150mm fan, and many kits are built around it. A 1m tent suits a spare-room corner, and a 60–80cm tent suits a cupboard, seedlings, herbs and salad.
Is a cheap grow tent good enough?
For a first grow under an LED, yes. What you give up is frame strength and fabric weight, which matter once a heavy light, filter and fan hang from the roof.
What does 600D or 2000D mean?
D is denier, a measure of how heavy the fabric’s yarn is. Higher numbers mean thicker canvas that resists pinholes, tears and light leaks for longer.
Should I buy a kit or the parts separately?
A kit is the easier start, because the light, fan, filter and ducting are matched to the tent. Buying separately lets you choose and upgrade each part. Check what a kit includes: some are only the tent and light.
