Best Thermo-Hygrometers for Grow Tents: 2026 Buying Guide
Share
A thermo-hygrometer shows the temperature and humidity your plants actually live in, and a good one remembers the highs and lows from while you were away. For most growers that is the ThermoPro TP350: tight accuracy, with two years of history on your phone. Whichever you buy, put it at canopy height, shaded from the light and out of the fan’s path.

How to choose
- Get high and low memory at least. Most climate problems happen when you are not there.
- Look for a stated humidity accuracy. ±2% RH is a much tighter promise than ±5%.
- Read it from outside if you can. A probe or an app lets you check without opening the tent.
- Log it if you are chasing a problem. A history shows patterns a single reading hides, such as a spike every night after lights-off.
- Check it with salt. Seal the meter in a bag with a small dish of damp table salt for a few hours. It should read about 75% RH.

Quick answers
Where should a hygrometer go in a grow tent?
At canopy height, in the middle of the tent, shaded from the light and out of the airflow from fans and humidifiers. Raise it as the plants grow.
How do I check my hygrometer is accurate?
Seal it in a bag or box with a small dish of damp table salt, and leave it for several hours at a steady temperature. The air over damp salt settles at about 75% RH, so the difference is your meter’s error.
Do I need a VPD meter?
Not to grow well, but it helps when fine-tuning. VPD combines temperature and humidity into one figure for how strongly plants draw water, and a VPD meter works it out for you.
Why does my hygrometer disagree with my controller?
Usually the sensors are in different places, or one has drifted. Put both side by side at canopy height for an hour, then use the salt test to see which is right.
