Best Quiet Inline Fans for Grow Tents: 2026 Buying Guide
Share
The quietest way to extract a grow tent is an EC inline fan sized one step up and run at half to two-thirds speed. For most tents that is the AC Infinity Cloudline PRO T-Series, whose controller only speeds it up when the tent needs it. On a budget, the Cloudline LITE or G.A.S AIR EC gives you a quiet EC motor for under £100.
The best quiet inline fans
1. AC Infinity Cloudline PRO T-Series
From £117.99 6 inch £147.99
Runs itself: the supplied controller speeds it up only when the tent needs it, so most of the time it idles quietly.
- EC mixed-flow
- 722 m³/h at 6 inch
- 30 dB(A) at 6 inch
- 4 to 12 inch
- 69 PRO controller ramps it by temperature, humidity, VPD or timer
- 503 Pa at 6 inch: plenty of push for a carbon filter
- Dual ball bearings rated for 67,000 hours
Know before you buyIt is not foam-lined. The quiet comes from the EC motor and slow running, so hang it on straps.

2. AC Infinity Cloudline LITE A-Series
From £80.49 6 inch £93.49
The same brand’s quiet EC motor on a simple 10-speed dial, for a lot less.
- EC motor
- 598 m³/h at 6 inch
- 34 dB(A) at 6 inch
- 4 to 8 inch
- The 10-speed dial makes it easy to find the quietest setting that still holds your temperature
- Can be upgraded to AC Infinity’s automatic controllers later
Know before you buyLess push than the T-Series (394 Pa at 6 inch), so keep the duct run short when a filter is fitted.

The cheapest EC fan here, with a speed dial in the box.

- The 4 inch draws just 20W for 200 m³/h, rated at 30 dB(A)
- No hum at low speeds, and a plug-and-play IEC connection
- Motor and blades lift out for cleaning
Know before you buyThe least push of the EC fans here (300 Pa at 6 inch), so it suits a short, simple duct run.

4. Phresh HyperFan Silenced V2
From £132.95
A foam-lined EC fan with the strongest push of the 6 inch fans here, at a fair price.
- Foam-lined EC

- Acoustic foam inside a silencing canister
- High pressure means a carbon filter costs it little airflow
- 40W at 6 inch, with a two-year warranty
Know before you buySizes start at 6 inch and the controller does not go below 35%, so it is not the fan for a small tent.

Six inch suits the popular 120 × 120cm tent. Pressure is how hard a fan pushes through a filter and duct, so more pressure keeps more airflow once fitted.

Makers measure noise in different ways, so decibel figures only compare within one brand. Prices as at October 2026.
How to choose
- Size it from the tent, then go one size up. As a guide: 4 or 5 inch up to about 100 × 100cm, 6 inch for 120 × 120cm and 150 × 150cm, 8 inch for 120 × 240cm and 200 × 200cm.
- Run it at 50–70%. A bigger fan turning slowly moves the same air as a small one flat out, with far less rushing noise.
- Choose EC unless you already own an AC controller. EC fans are quieter at low speed and cheaper to run.
- Check the pressure if you run a filter and a long duct. At 6 inch, the Phresh, T-Series and Rhino have the most in hand.
- Hang it on straps and keep the duct short and taut. Add a silencer if the outlet is still loud.
Work out your airflow with our fan and filter sizing guide, and quieten the rest of the set-up with grow room ducting and noise.
Quick answers
What is the quietest inline fan for a grow tent?
An EC fan sized one step up and run at half to two-thirds speed. For most tents that is the AC Infinity Cloudline PRO T-Series; for a foam-lined body, the Phresh HyperFan Silenced V2 or the Rhino Ultra Silent EC.
Are EC fans quieter than AC fans?
At low speed, yes. EC motors slow down smoothly and use less power, while an AC fan slowed too far can hum. An AC fan also needs a separate fan speed controller.
Can I compare decibel figures between brands?
Not reliably. Makers measure at different distances and speeds, and some quote sound power from the casing rather than sound pressure. Use them to compare sizes within one range.
Can I use a light dimmer to slow my fan?
No. Household dimmers are not built for motor loads and can damage the fan or the dimmer. EC fans come with their own controller; AC fans need a proper fan speed controller.
