Veg+Bloom feed chart – RO/Soft, Tap/Hard and Shine in grams per litre, Grow 1 to Flower 8, with target EC
  • All dosesgrams per litre
  • pH5.8 – 6.3 in coco
  • Base feedRO/Soft or Tap/Hard

Every figure is grams of powder per litre of water. A 10-litre tank takes ten times what you see: 1.75g per litre is 17.5g in 10 litres. Weigh it, because a heaped spoon of powder can be well out.

Getting it right

  • Use one base, not both. RO/Soft and Tap/Hard sit on identical rows because the doses are the same. They are alternatives. Pick the one that suits your water and leave the other on the shelf.
  • Match the base to your water. Hydroponic Research recommend RO/Soft for coco, hydro and aero with water between EC 0.0 and 0.3, and Tap/Hard for hydro and aero with water between EC 0.3 and 0.7.
  • It is a one-part powder. There is no A and B to keep apart. Add the weighed powder to a full tank and stir until it has completely dissolved before you check anything.
  • The base runs flat, then eases off. 1.75g per litre from Grow 1 right through to Flower 3. 1.5g from Flower 4 to Flower 6. 0.75g at Flower 7 and 0.25–0.5g at Flower 8.
  • Shine starts at Flower 4. 0.25–0.5g per litre at Flower 4, 5 and 6, then 0.5g at Flower 7 and Flower 8. Nothing before Flower 4.
  • Target EC sits at 2.1 for most of the run. It rises to 2.1–2.4 from Flower 4 to Flower 6 while Shine is in, falls to 1.5 at Flower 7 and 0.9–1.2 at Flower 8. The chart assumes water that starts at EC 0.0, so a meter on harder water will read higher by your water's own EC.
  • The last column has no doses. Hydroponic Research print a dash for every product in the Finish column, the final one to five days of the cycle.
  • Running longer than the chart? For extra vegetative weeks, repeat Grow 2. For extra flowering weeks, repeat Flower 6.
  • pH depends on the medium. 5.8–6.3 in coco, 5.5–6.0 in rockwool. Check it after the powder has dissolved.

Common questions

Is this grams per litre or per 10 litres?

Per one litre, not per 10 litres. 1.75g per litre is 17.5g in a 10-litre tank or 35g in 20 litres.

RO/Soft or Tap/Hard: which one do I need?

Measure the EC of your water before anything goes in. Up to 0.3, Hydroponic Research point you to RO/Soft. Between 0.3 and 0.7, Tap/Hard. The chart doses are the same for both.

I grow in soil. Is this my chart?

Not quite. This schedule is for coco, rockwool and hydro. For soil, Hydroponic Research say to use an inert mix, and they publish a separate schedule for Veg+Bloom Dirty, their base for soil and peat.

Do I have to use Shine?

No. Shine is an add-on for flowering, not part of the base. Leave it out and follow the base rows, but expect your EC to sit under the 2.1–2.4 target from Flower 4 to Flower 6.

Why does the chart restart at 1 for flowering?

Growers count flowering from the switch to 12 hours of light. Hydroponic Research's two veg weeks are Grow 1 and Grow 2, then flowering runs Flower 1 to Flower 8.
